EXTRA-CURRICULAR STUDIES

Extra-curricular studies at UWB is a lifelong learning program for the public. It allows interested parties to supplement and expand their qualifications by completing courses and attending classes together with students.

WHAT ARE EXTRA-CURRICULAR STUDIES?

Extra-curricular studies IS a lifelong learning programme that consists of opening selected subjects taught to students of individual faculties of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen to participants in lifelong learning.

Extra-curricular studies will allow interested members of the public to supplement and expand their qualifications by completing individual subjects taught at UWB.

A participant in lifelong learning is not a student under the Higher Education Act.

Extra-curricular studies are governed by the UWB Lifelong Learning Regulations, which stipulate that a lifelong learning programme is also a study subject of an accredited study programme.

HOW DO EXTRA-CURRICULAR STUDIES WORK?

Participants in Extra-curricular studies can enroll in subjects taught at UWB in a certain semester, attend classes, gain credits, and take exams. The participant must complete the exams and credits from the enrolled subjects no later than the end of the academic year during which he/she enrolled in Extra-curricular studies.

The teaching of lifelong learning participants takes place simultaneously with the teaching of students, and the credits and exams are also identical – on the same dates, and with the same requirements for both target groups.

The Extra-curricular studies are intended primarily for interested parties who have completed at least secondary education, with a school-leaving examination. However, Extra-curricular studies are also available to secondary school students who would like to experience the atmosphere and demands of learning at UWB, or have a specific interest in a certain professional area taught at UWB. Extra-curricular studies can also be used by regular students, to a limited extent, and under certain conditions (see below).
