Before submitting an application, a person interested in lifelong learning should familiarize themself with all of the rules and regulations on lifelong learning, and with the rules for organizing Extra-curricular studies at UWB, in particular, the method of setting fees, the conditions for registering for courses, and the method of their control.
Before completing the application, a person interested in Extra-curricular studies is obliged to check that the courses listed in their application are arranged in such a way that it will be possible to participate in their teaching.
It is not permitted to register for courses for more than 30 credits per semester.
To register for courses, it is necessary to meet the professional entry requirements (have the knowledge that the course assumes), and language skills that allow active participation in the lessons, in the language in which the course is taught. These prerequisites are not checked when submitting an application, but only in the first phase of teaching the course.
The subject teacher may request the cancellation of a participant’s registration for a course of Extra-curricular studies for the following reasons:
Participation in the learning of subjects within Extra-curricular studies, and the manner of their fulfilment, are governed by the reasonable application of the normal study regulations. In Extra-curricular studies, the benefits resulting from the status of a student with special needs cannot be claimed.
The fee may be refunded to the bank account specified in the application, under certain circumstances. Refunds of fees are governed by the following rules:
These additional conditions apply to all of the applicants for Extra-curricular studies who are concurrently enrolled in an ongoing regular course of study at the University of West Bohemia (including interrupted studies).
These applicants must provide the organizer with a written evaluation from the Vice-Dean of Studies of the component where they are enrolled in regular studies. In the evaluation, the Vice-Dean comments on the list of subjects listed on the application for part-time studies.
Only a limited number of subjects (usually one or two) will be allowed to be enrolled in, so that completing part-time studies does not lead to a disproportionate extension of the study period. If the Vice-Dean does not approve the enrollment of a particular subject, the applicant will automatically be refunded the relevant part of the fee paid. The Vice-Dean may recognize a subject completed as Extra-curricular studies as a C subject in regular studies.
Students of regular studies are strongly advised to consult on the subjects they wish to enroll in for Extra-curricular studies with the Vice-Dean of Studies before submitting their application.
No subject can be enrolled in both regular and Extra-curricular studies at the same time. If it is found that a student has enrolled in the same subject in both types of study, their part-time study registration will be cancelled without any right to a refund. Cancellation of registration for these reasons may be made at any time during the semester.
