COMPUTATION STATISTIC

The STAV course is part of the Statistics and Data Analysis micro-certificate program, which aims to familiarize students with the basic principles of statistical thinking and classical and modern methods of statistical data analysis through three sub-courses (PSA, STAV, and MSM). The course can also be taken independently.

AIM OF THE SUBJECT:

In the STAV course, students will learn about specific graphic processing and presentation of statistical data using selected statistical software systems for statistical data processing (e.g., Excel and Matlab). Students will also learn about the basic principles and use of simulation models.

STUDENT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Fundamentals of matrix, differential, and integral calculus, fundamentals of probability and statistics.

After completing the course, students will be able to:

  • list selected software products suitable for statistical data processing
  • assess the suitability of selected software for statistical problems
  • illustrate the use of selected software using simple examples
