Introduction to the principles of chemical production and their technical application – discover how chemistry shapes the world around us.
The subject Chemical Technology focuses on the basic principles and applications of chemical processes used in industry. The aim of the subject is to familiarize students with technological procedures in the production of inorganic and organic substances and materials, the use and management of energy, and the basic principles of food technology.
The subject provides students with additional information for possible continuation of studies in technical or natural science fields at universities, or for direct entry into the labour market in the field of chemistry or the environment.
The student should be able to characterize the essence of biochemical processes, and describe the basic principles and main parts of the system of general, physical, and organic chemistry. The student is expected to have the ability to use chemical symbols and terminology, and the ability to apply new chemical knowledge obtained from professional periodical literature. The student should also master the computational apparatus of basic chemical disciplines, and be able to effectively use information technology when working with chemical data and sources.
After completing the course, the student can use basic concepts of the chemical industry, is able to describe chemical processes, and the principle of operation of chemical equipment. Lists and recognizes various types of chemical technologies and their products across the entire spectrum of chemical technology. Uses knowledge of safety rules and ecological aspects related to chemical production.
