The subject is intended for intermediate students. The aim of the course is to equip students with basic language skills, and prepare students for level B1, according to the CEFR.
In the language course, students gradually become familiar with topics of everyday life, and at the same time, acquire important grammatical phenomena. The course covers a total of 6 lessons from a book corresponding to level B1, according to the CEFR.
Conversational topics include, for example, holidays and situations in a travel agency, shopping and complaints about goods, technology, devices and returning them, life events, job interviews, job search, advertisements, how to write a motivation letter, an interview, the environment, weather in the D-A-CH countries, ideas about the future, expectations.
Grammar goals include, for example, infinitive with “zu”, subordinate clauses, prepositions with genitive, prepositions with temporal information, preterite, subjunctive II., pronominal adverbs, adjective inflection, objective clauses, future I, n-declension, relative clauses.
The course is intended for intermediate students. The aim of the course is to equip students with basic language skills, and prepare students for level B1 according to the CEFR.
To successfully master the subject, it is assumed that before the start of the lesson, the student will be able to write a short essay on the topic being discussed, express an opinion, arguments, and objections simply, describe leisure activities, talk about work, employment, job offers, express their attitude towards the media, simply express their opinion, enthusiasm, disappointment, summarize information obtained by listening to a simple text from the field of personal and professional life, politics, media, fashion, find essential information in a short text from the field of personal and professional life, fashion, politics, media, express their attitude towards art.
After completing the course, the student demonstrates knowledge of the grammatical structures of the German language, especially the ability to distinguish the n-declension, regular and irregular grading of adjectives and adverbs, and recognize infinitive constructions with zu. He/she can assign the correct form of the relative pronoun in a subordinate clause, and distinguish the use of the conjunctions da, weil, obwohl.
He/she also manages to distinguish prepositions with the genitive, is familiar with the use of the past tense (preterite), and understands the use of temporal prepositions with the dative and accusative (e.g. ab, an, bis, während). He/she can also correctly assign conjunctions in subordinate clauses of purpose.
